    An excellent opportunity for experienced or newly qualified nurses to join the critical care nursing team here at Royal Papworth Hospital has arisen.

    Our 46 bedded Critical Care is one of the largest and busiest in the region, with state-of-the-art facilities, we are able to provide outstanding compassionate and holistic care to our patients.

    As a tertiary referral centre we look after some of the sickest patients who are referred to us for a variety of specialist services such as our ECMO (extra corporeal membrane oxygenation) service, heart and lung transplant, PCI pathway.

    To care for our patients we need a highly skilled and innovative team, we will support your development through every stage of your career with our dedicated Critical Care education team.

    Our well established programme for registered nurses will be tailored to you, combining theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for you to excel in your role.

    You will have access to expert clinical mentors and higher education programmes such as the Critical Care Course at degree or master's level, funded places at international conferences, Critical Care rotations and careers coaching for progression in more specialist roles.

    Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is the UK's leading heart and lung hospital, delivering care to more than 50,000 patients a year in its new state-of-the-art hospital in Cambridge.

    It also offers emergency heart attack treatment, sleep centre care and is one of just five centres nationally for those in severe respiratory failure.

    Based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus the largest centre of medical research and health science in Europe the Trust is at the heart of treatments of the future.

    Registration with NMC
    Diploma in Nursing

    Degree in Nursing
    Completion of Critical Care Step 1-3 competencies
    Critical Care Course at degree or MSc level
    Knowledge of NMC Code of Conduct and professional practice guidance
    Good theoretical and practical knowledge of nursing within the clinical area
    Knowledge of clinical governance and quality
    Aware of cultural and social influences on health and of the importance of respecting diversity and differences
    Able to perform nursing activities specific to specialty
    Evidence of experience in Critical Care
    Understanding of the professional nursing agenda
    Able to assist Healthcare Support Workers
