Job description

Teach on modules at BA and MA level for German and Modern Languages
Participate fully in assessment and examination processes as appropriate, and provide effective and timely feedback to students
Supervise undergraduate dissertations where appropriate
Act as personal tutor to undergraduate students
Undertake administration for the department
Undertake research on their areas of expertise

The postholder will be responsible to the Head of Department.

This is a full-time post - 100% full time equivalent.

Skills, knowledge, and experience

Essential criteria

Proven teaching and research expertise in modern German cultural studies
Proven ability in teaching German culture and language at undergraduate level
Ability to teach translation from and into German at undergraduate level
Excellent administrative and IT skills
Time management and organisational skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Native or near-native fluency in English and German

Desirable criteria

Teaching experience at postgraduate level
A commitment to community engagement, widening participation, and/or outreach activities, particularly in relation to ethnic minority experience and the promotion of diversity and inclusion
Administrative experience
