    Headquartered in London, Talbot has offices in New York and Singapore and over 300 people working across these three locations.

    Syndicate 1183 underwrites multiple classes of business including Political Violence/Terrorism, Marine, Energy (off-shore and on-shore), Marine and Energy Liability, Hull, Cargo and Specie, Political Risk, Property, Accident and Health, Financial Lines, Cyber, Alternative Risks, Non-Physical Cyber and Treaty Reinsurance.

    Syndicate 2019 reinsures premium written by AIG's Private Client Group, covering Homeowners, Auto, General Specie and other products.

    Reports to the Marine Claims Manager, with responsibility for managing all aspects of the claims adjudication process, providing management and clients with an efficient and effective claims service.

    The Marine Claims Team manage claims concerning the following Direct, Facultative Reinsurance, Excess of Loss and Proportional Treaty classes:
    Marine & Energy Liabilities
    Political Risk/Trade Credit
    This role would be in respect of handling claims to the above Marine classes of business
    Acting within an agreed claims handling authority and upholding the departmental objectives.
    Agreeing valid claims
    Establishing and maintaining reserves for complex and large claims
    Carrying out negotiations with brokers, face to face when required, on claims where Talbot is the leader or second lead
    Handling claims electronically predominately via ECF and DocoSoft
    Maintaining compliance with internal and external risk controls and regulatory requirements
    Supervising and monitoring organizations where the syndicate has delegated claims authority
    Notifying and reporting claims notifications to underwriters and senior management where necessary
    Leading the delivery of projects outside claims-related responsibilities in order to add value to the department and business.
    Supporting senior leadership in the claims team to help the department achieve its broader objectives
    Completing static claims, Status Differences (SDRs), diaries and other ancillary tasks to a high standard
    Maintaining actuarial and IBNR records
    To assist the Claims Leadership Team (CLT) with Manager Approval Tasks
    To work collaboratively with Group colleagues as well as claims peers across Lloyd's, London and International Markets.
    Handling complex claims through discovery process, dispute resolution, mediation, court, obtaining judgement
    Delivering projects additional to core role such as those linked to delivering the business strategy or implementing function-wide change
    Representing Talbot externally at senior level
    Experience in handling direct, facultative and treaty reinsurance claims in the Cyber class.
    Experience in Financial Lines would be an advantage.
    Foreign languages would be an advantage
    Detailed understanding of the London Market, regulatory environment and implications for Talbot and its clients
    Litigation, mediation, dispute resolution and deposition skills
    Use of internal underwriting and claims systems and relevant software packages
    Relationship building internally and externally
    Ability to identify trends and understand how these may impact on Claims and the Syndicate more broadly.
