Whether connecting with loved ones, accessing trusted information, working and educating remotely, or viewing entertaining content, almost every part of our lives is at least now partly online.

At the same time there are real risks posed online by harmfulor illegal activity - from hate speech to illegal extremist communication, and from bullying and harassment to child sexual exploitation and abuse.

In light of the scale of these challenges, the Government has appointed Ofcom as the regulator for online safetyin the UK.

This is an exciting time to be joining the Online Safety Policy Team.

We are an innovative, fast-growing team, leading on implementing video-sharing platform (VSP) regulation and our approach to our future role as the independent regulator of online safety.

As Ofcom gears up for it's new online safety role, we will establish a new Online Safety Group to lead in delivering our new statutory duties, and our plan is for the Online Safety Policy team to transition into this new group early next year.


Purpose of the Role


To provide proactive PA support to Online Safety Policy Directors, and shared administrative support to the wider Online Safety Group
.



Key responsibilities

  • Proactive diary management for up to 2 Online Safety Policy Directors, assessing priorities to enable best use of time.
  • Close daily interaction with the Directors, proactively flagging and escalating incoming issues and updates, and responding to changing requests flexibly and efficiently.
  • Organise sometimes complex itineraries, producing clear and concise schedules for travel and accommodation, arrangements for meetings, conferences and external engagements.
  • Act as an effective interface between Directors, their respective subgroups, and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensuring excellent attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of the role
  • Ensure Directors' timesheets and expenses are completed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Administrative support to the management team recruitment and onboarding process
  • Book domestic and international travel and accommodation for Directors
  • Support the organisation of group/subgroup events, such as away days and large team meetings
  • Flexibility to take on ad hoc projects/work

Skills, Knowledge and experience

  • Experience of providing high level support at Director level (or equivalent), including complex diary management, document preparation and minute taking.
  • Excellent prioritisation and time management skills
  • Proven communication skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels external and internal.
  • Able to maintain strict confidentiality at all times
  • Proactive in offering or seeking assistance when workloads fluctuate
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and other software packages e.g. Sharepoint
  • Appreciation of and desire to promote Ofcom's values of excellence, agility, empowerment and collaboration
