Description
Snap Visualisation Lab Manager - Specialist Technical Instructor in Visualisation & Simulation (1fte, Ftc)We are looking for an experienced, adaptable and highly motivated person to work in our new SNAP Visualisation Lab at the Royal College of Art.
Offering double height, three sided stereoscopic capable projection, a spatial tracking array and high quality sound, the space will allow for large scale visuals, virtual environments, and data analysis.
Comprising audio, projection, and tracking hardware and software for multimedia playback and CAD conversion, the space will support research staff to engage with partners.
An immersive audio system.Software that supports multimedia content playback and VR.
Working as the local technical support in this new Research & Knowledge Exchange focused space, the role will provide specialist technical support for large scale multimedia projection, virtual environments and audio delivery.
There will be training and development opportunities on the software and equipment for the most suitable candidate.Working closely with academic staff and external partners to support project development within and for the SNAP lab.
Training research staff on new equipment and processes.
Setting up and running tests and experiments on behalf of academic staff or commercial clients.
Ordering consumables and planning maintenance of equipment.
Peer-to-peer learning with other technical specialists and academic staff.
Significant knowledge and experience of managing multi-user spaces, including equipment management, software updates, and user configuration.
Experience of developing project briefs, scope and resource requirements.
Experience of delivering virtual environment projects and at least one games development platform (such as Unreal or Unity).
Experience of working with 3D models within visualisation and virtual environment projects
Excellent organisational, time management and planning skills with the ability to prioritise as appropriate.
This is a full time and fixed term role (2 years) working at our State-of-the-Art facility at Battersea.
As part of the process, there will also be a tour of the facilities.
