We are looking for an experienced, motivated, forward thinking, ODP/ Registered Nurse to work in our Surgical Theatres and Proton departments.
Our oncology theatre suite specialises in colorectal, plastic, urology and gynaecology, brachytherapy surgery, Robotic and a separate Proton treatment unit, which specialises in Paediatric anaesthesia.

The successful candidate will hold the appropriate qualifications to be a current registered practitioner (RGN or ODP) and demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development.
You will be committed to delivering high quality care with a desire to further develop your career within this rewarding specialty.
You will need to have very good communication skills, be highly motivated, organised and be able to work using your own initiative.
Minimum 2 years Adult Anaesthetic and Recovery experience with Paediatric anaesthetic experience also essential.5 hours, 4 or 5 days flexibly over 6 days (Monday to Saturday) with a commitment to out of hours on call.
We provide radiotherapy through one of the largest radiotherapy departments in the world chemotherapy on site and through 14 other hospitals highly specialist surgery for complex and rare cancer and a wide range of support and diagnostic services.
We are also an international leader in research, with world first breakthroughs for over 100 years. We run one of the largest early clinical trial units in Europe with over 300 trials every year.Cancer research in Manchester, most of which is undertaken on the Christie site, has been officially ranked the best in the UK.
To participate as a member of the Anaesthetic/Recovery Theatre team with extensive knowledge in the care of the peri-operative patient.
To competently care for the peri-operative patient including the assessment, planning and evaluation of programs of care.To participate as a member of the Anaesthetic/Recovery Theatre team with extensive knowledge in the care of the peri-operative adult and paediatric patient.
Ensure proficiency with all medical equipment before use in accordance with the trust medical device policy.Liase with the peri-operative teams to initiate and participate in the audit and evaluation of clinical practice and surgical products in the interest of promoting quality care.
Work with senior colleagues to formulate practice development strategies based on audit findings.Encourage and participate in initiatives to enhance quality care.
To promote and maintain an environment conducive to professional development.
Take responsibility for your own professional development.
Participate in the theoretical and practical professional instruction of all learners, trained and untrained, including medical students and other allied medical professions.
Ensure that all prescribed drugs and treatments are given correctly and in accordance with Trust policy, including the correct care and custody of controlled drugs.
Offer help and advice to the patients relatives and friends responding to their individual needs in a caring supportive manner.
Have access to and maintain computerised patient records in accordance with Trust policy.After training be able to use the scan track system and track/trace all medical devices used in theatre.
Under direction of a senior colleague work in role of Theatre co-ordinator.
To be part of the on call team as per the departments rota to provide an emergency cover out of hours ,weekend and bank holidays and as and when the department requires.
Ist level Registered Nurse with a recognised Anaesthetic qualification and recovery experience or an Operating department Practitioner.
Evidence of on going professional development.
Be willing to undertake own further professional development.
Paediatric Anaesthetic experience
Ability to supervise and support junior staff members.
Evidence of continuing professional development within existing role and the ability.
