    Overview of role

    Location: Stockport

    There is currently a fantastic opportunity for an electrically-biased multi-skilled maintenance engineer to join our team at Allied Bakeries, Stockport. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out maintenance and improvement activities across the site. Preventative maintenance and continuous improvement work will play a large part of the role as well as some reactive work carrying out fault diagnosis and rectification. The working pattern is rotating days and nights over a 4 week pattern averaging 42 hours per week. Shifts are 12 hours in length.

    Key Accountabilities

    Safety always comes first at Allied Bakeries so we are looking for someone to lead by example in ensuring Health & Safety is our number one priority. Someone who is able to engage others to think and behave safely at all times.

    The successful candidate will provide Engineering support and expertise in the maintenance of capital equipment within a fast paced industrial bakery environment, to meet the needs of the business and to generate continuous improvements in the cost and quality of engineering performance.

    Key duties:

  • Attend plant breakdowns in a timely and reactive manner.
  • Create maintenance reports on equipment using the company EAM (CMMS) software.
  • Complete planned maintenance check sheets and provide recommendations for repairs or improvements.
  • Escalate major plant or safety issues as and when appropriate.
  • Plan and implement continuous improvement projects to improve the plant performance KPI figures (Breakdown, Damage, Safety, Quality)

    • The Right Person

    Electrically qualified to the required standard – BS7671 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regs and a recognised Craft Apprenticeship in Engineering including the relevant electrical units.

    The successful candidate must have maintenance experience within an FMCG or similar fast-paced industry

    Strong electrical skills with sufficient mechanical knowledge to be able to complete basic mechanical tasks.

    Proficient at reading and interpreting electrical schematics and control diagrams.

    Working knowledge of modern plc controlled equipment, HMIs, Servo & Variable Speed Drives.

    It is essential you are a team player and a good communicator and are able to remain calm and focused when working under pressure.

    Able to work well on your own and use your time effectively to ensure scheduled work is completed in the allocated time.
