Description
Depot / Transport Manager – Rugby 45-50k Plus bonusMontgomery Distribution is the palletised distribution division of Montgomery Transport Group.
Operating from distribution sites throughout the UK, Montgomery Distribution offers a range of services covering the whole of the UK, Ireland and Europe.
With over 50 years trading history, the company is well established and is still family owned, assuring customers of a long term view and a solid trading platform.
Responsibilities:
Management of all employees at the Rugby depot including, absence management, holiday cover, and all HR issues with assistance from the HR Department.
Responsible for the welfare and safety of all personnel, both office and operatives and for all Health and Safety implications within the depot.
Responsible for delivering the budgeted profit performance for the depot.
Work with senior management to provide constructive input to promote excellent customer service, driver efficiency and cost saving exercise.
Liaise with all other depot managers to ensure the fleet is being utilised efficiently across the business and provide cover where necessary.
Responsible for communicating with all staff to ensure work is carried out to a high standard, notifying necessary parties of any issues / changes.
To provide support, assistance and advise to Key Account and customer services managers to ensure accurate information is provided to drivers and customers.
To establish an excellent working relationship with all depot staff and drivers, establishing relationships built on trust on trust and confidentiality.
Engage fully with all new technology being brought into the depot. Promote the use of modern technology where applicable to better achieve business objectives and improve on asset utilisation.
Assess and review your team, highlight skills shortages and or training needs.
Liaise daily with the Workshop and Traffic Offices to prioritise MOT's/defects/servicing as required.
Be the named CPC holder on operator's licence with CPC National qualifications.
Managing the operator license and working alongside the compliance manager & driver trainer to ensure we are fully compliant in all areas.
Maintain an up to date register of equipment support updates / bulletins and legislative changes that you can call upon and make available to the Supervisory Team should the need arise.
Management of fines and prohibitions levied against the Montgomery Distribution fleet.
Ensure a good standard of housekeeping is maintained at all times. Carry out spot checks and hygiene checks. Report near misses, populate NC/Corrective action where applicable and upload to the shared drive.
Reporting of and documentation of both road traffic accidents and personal injuries.
Conduct PPE Periodic Checks taking into account condition and availability of PPE equipment with individual and group safety being paramount
Ensure all employees have the correct PPE for the task they are performing and that it is maintained correctly.
Ensure adequate First Aid provision for all sites.
Ensure general maintenance and upkeep of the site is compliant i.e. Pat testing, Fire extinguishers, emergency lighting etc.
