    Introduction

    The Parliamentary Maintenance Services Team (PMST) consists of around 115 in-house staff and numerous contractors responsible for maintaining the Parliamentary estates (Commons & Lords). Our focus is on maintaining the buildings, engineering systems, and furnishings to ensure a safe and fully functional working environment prepared for the demands of the 21st century.

    The Maintenance Projects team forms a vital part of PMST, offering a flexible service to various internal customers. We have experienced significant growth in the past 18 months, managing maintenance projects from inception to completion, which is highly rewarding.

    As our team expands, we are seeking individuals who can deliver high-quality work in a challenging setting and contribute to the ongoing operation of Parliament.

    The Role

    We are seeking a Project Leader responsible for overseeing business cases, design, procurement, construction, and handover for a variety of Maintenance Projects throughout the Parliamentary Estate. Effective communication with stakeholders and clients at different organizational levels is fundamental to this role.

    The role is multidisciplinary, requiring a project manager with a background in general building works or engineering who can adapt to specialist projects involving heritage, security, or other components.

    Key responsibilities include:

    • Reviewing Project requests assigned by the Line Manager
    • Meeting with the Requester / Client / End User to agree on work scope
    • Appointing a design team and managing design and CDM aspects
    • Undertaking stakeholder engagements to progress and accept the scope
    • Managing program, budget, and design quality
    • Procuring and appointing a contractor and managing construction and CDM aspects

    Skills and Experience

    Essential Qualifications and Experience:

    • Degree educated in a construction-related field (e.g., Architecture, Engineering, or Building Surveying)
    • Significant experience in managing multiple small/maintenance projects
