    Description

    Biodiversity Data Technical Officer

    • Location: Cambridge, UK
    • Full time: 35 hours per week
    • Contract: 1 year fixed term
    • Salary: £29,000 – 31,000 pro rata plus competitive 12% pension benefit, dependent on skillsand experience
    • Annual Leave: 25 days pro rata in year 1, increasing by 1 day pa to 28 days

    BirdLife International is the world's largest nature conservation partnership. Through ourunique local-to-global approach, we deliver high impact and long-term conservation for thebenefit of nature and people.

    We are looking for someone to support the management of BirdLife's extensive datasets onspecies and important sites for their conservation in order to maintain the quality andintegrity of these data, and provide summaries of them through information dashboards andreports.

    The Biodiversity Data Technical Officer will undertake data manipulation and analysis tosupport decision-making. They will provide data management support to the Science Division andRegional Divisions, and support the provision of data and information services to end users.

    Ideally you will have:

    • BSc (or higher) in environmental science, computer science, GIS, geography, or equivalentrelevant work experience in an information management related discipline
    • Proven ability to critically assess and synthesise information.
    • Practical experience of querying and maintaining large spatial and tabular datasetsespecially automating regular tasks.
    • Demonstrable experience of advanced data cleaning and manipulation, including familiaritywith working with relational databases using SQL and PostgreSQL.
    • Practical knowledge of R for analysis and production of data products.
    • Knowledge of Power BI or equivalent software for data visualization.
    • Familiarity with Google Earth Engine application and functionality
