    Description
    Net developer to help us on our journey to build out our next generation, cloud-based market data platform. This is a rare opportunity to contribute to building and launching a brand new product.

    We are using cutting edge technologies and techniques to make sure the product is of high quality but still easy to change and adapt as we discover the needs of our customers.

    We are adopting the Apache projects Flink, Kafka and Pulsar to manage our data transfer, transformation and distribution and the team utilises techniques such as infrastructure-as-code, config-as-code and automated regression testing in an agile team environment with an emphasis on self-organisation.

    The Realtime Data department is responsible for supplying the market data that powers the rest of Morningstar as well as our sizeable client base.

    We receive billions of messages per day from our direct Financial Exchange connections, which we process and distribute to our clients.

    As you can imagine, this requires a superb level of engineering to ensure it is done reliably, efficiently and can scale effectively.


    As a developer on the team, you will be responsible for building out new features for the product.

    We expect our team to take ownership of items of work from start to finish so you will work on all aspects from design and development to testing and even the infrastructure it runs on.

    Following the standards the team sets for itself is an important part of this work, using CI/CD, DevOps techniques, automated testing, config-as-code, infra-as-code, etc to ensure we can deliver a high quality proudct within a short development cycle.

    Whilst the primary language for the team is .Net, we use other languages as well, in particular simple Java for our ETL processes.

    Net development using C#
    Either knowledge of or willingness to learn other languages, particularly Java.
    Strong ability to develop well tested software
    A bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related field with a
    Experience with AWS and infrastructure-as-code using Terraform
    Knowledge of web technologies
    SQL/Relational Database experience
    Financial markets knowledge
