    About the Role

    We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Music Teacher to join our vibrant secondary school in Portsmouth. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and educate young minds, fostering a love and appreciation for music.

    Responsibilities

    • Curriculum Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Music lessons in line with the national curriculum.
    • Student Engagement: Create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and creativity.
    • Assessment: Regularly assess and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback and support.
    • Behaviour Management: Implement effective behaviour management strategies to maintain a positive classroom atmosphere during music lessons and performances.
    • Pastoral Care: Support the social and emotional development of students through music education, acting as a positive role model and mentor.
    • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to departmental meetings and school activities.

    Requirements

    • Qualifications: A degree in Music or a related field and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
    • Experience: Previous teaching experience in a secondary school setting is desirable but not essential.
    • Skills:
      • Patience: Demonstrated ability to remain patient and calm in a variety of situations, particularly during rehearsals and performances.
      • Behaviour Management: Strong skills in managing classroom behaviour and maintaining discipline during music lessons and extracurricular activities.
      • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in conveying musical concepts and instructions.
      • Interpersonal: Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues through music education.
      • Organisational: Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively, especially when coordinating music events and performances.

    All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
