    We are looking to recruit substantive or locum consultants to our Community Paediatric team in Newham for 2024.
    These posts are an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic team within a multidisciplinary Community Child Health service in

    East London:
    Post - Consultant Community Paediatrician (up to 10PA)
    Post - Consultant Community Paediatrician with role as Medical Advisor for Adoption & Fostering for Newham (up to 10 PA)
    The postholders will be expected to work within the multidisciplinary team to provide a comprehensive community paediatric service within Specialist Children & Young People's Services and will include responsibilities in the following areas:
    (Consultant clinics and related administrative work b. To contribute to teaching of medical students particularly in relation to community child health services
    (iv) Audit, Quality Improvement and Service Development

    In the role of Medical Advisor for Adoption and Fostering, the postholder would be expected to conduct Adult Medicals for prospective adopters and provide input to the Adoption Panel, and medical reports for children and young people being adopted.

    The Medical Advisor will work closely with the Named Doctor for LAC and the rest of the LAC team undertaking health assessments of children and young people who come into care.

    MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
    MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
    Postgraduate degree in related child health or medical speciality, e.g. MSc, MD, PhD
    DCH, MBA or other diploma or higher degree in a relevant field
    Professional training
    Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Community Child Health or Paediatrics or equivalent (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview)
    At least 2 years General Professional Training in Paediatrics and at least 2 years Higher Specialist Training or equivalent clinical experience in Community Paediatrics
    SPIN or Diploma in Paediatric Neurodisability

    Extensive experience of working in a multidisciplinary Child Development Team and the ability to seek advice from, share experience with, and offer support to other team members
    Experience in managing children with complex neurological and developmental problems
    Competent in management of common general paediatric problems - acute and chronic
    Up to date with Level 3 competences in Safeguarding Children
    Competent in supervision of Child Protection Medical Assessments
    Specialist experience in Paediatric Neurology or other areas of related Community Child Health practice
    Experience in other areas relevant to child health, eg. child mental health, obstetrics, public health, general practice
    Training in autism diagnostic assessment tools, eg. Competent in autism diagnosis assessments
    Medical
    Has the ability to support and supervise trainees and SAS doctors
    Completed a recognised medical management course
    Has the ability and experience to undertake medical appraisals

    Has experience in:

    • NHS complaint handling
    • Critical incident reporting
    • Staff appraisal
    • Risk management
    Has a record of completed audit projects, service development work and/or Quality Improvement projects
    Has experience in co-production and collaboration with service users
    Has undertaken Quality Improvement training
    Has undertaken Quality Improvement training
    Has experience of postgraduate paediatric teaching
    Has undertaken 'train the trainer' training
    Current portfolio as a medical educator
    Ability to express complex medical issues in lay terms
    Ability to communicate with parents and children effectively, and to explain complex medical conditions and treatment
    Ability to champion Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the workplace

    Shows adaptability and flexibility in accordance with service needs
