What you'll be doing

The Buyer will oversee the daily sourcing and purchasing activities, ensuring that material and services are sourced, purchased and delivered on time to meet the companies requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Purchase goods, materials or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets
Build, develop, set up and maintain relationships with key suppliers, improving prices and commercial terms where possible
Act as an interface between suppliers and other relevant colleagues on purchasing processes and new projects and activities, resolving any price, quality, delivery or invoice issues
To provide a seamless interface between the Procurement function and the Materials Management & Production Engineering functions.
To manage the daily purchasing activity, consistent with customer requirements.
To ensure that all the Procurement activities are aligned to the function objectives, follow the correct procedures and utilise the appropriate tools and processes.

To assist with the development and implementation of key category strategies.

To develop value adding relationships with the Materials Management team, cross-functional departments and suppliers.

Ensure company Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental policies are adhered to at all times and, where necessary, implement identified improvements

To assist the business with problem resolution on any supply chain related issues

Any other reasonable tasks as directed by Senior Management

Essential Key Competencies:

Good negotiation and persuasive skills
Good presentation and communication (written and verbal) skills at all levels
Good ability to input, retrieve and analyse data

Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles

Excellent ability to communicate at all levels with both internal and external stakeholders

Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word packages

Courage to drive change across the organisation

Ideal/Non-Essential Requirements:

Studying towards, or attained CIPS or a relevant business qualification.
Minimum of 4 years relevant experience in a Purchasing / Supply Chain role.
Experience gained within a manufacturing / engineering or construction environment.
