    Description

    An opportunity has arisen to join us as a Workforce Development Officer within Adult Social Care Workforce Development Team in the People and Culture directorate.

    This is a full time role at 37 hours per week. The post holder would be joining a dynamic team of people who develop and collaborate with other teams within the council in order to support the training and development needs of a number of different professions.

    We are looking for a highly motivated person who thinks creatively and originally and has strong communication and organisational skills to be part of our team. The individual will need to hold a Practice Educator Award or be willing to undertake the qualification and have a passion for developing students and other learners towards building the workforce of the future.

    This is a fantastic chance to be involved in providing a comprehensive and efficient Workforce Development Service and developing student Social Workers and Newly Qualified Social Workers and Occupational Therapists.

    You will work collaboratively with the Workforce Development Service Manager and Workforce Development Leads to provide the highest level of support for workforce development matters. There will be a key requirement to organise and provide support to student social workers on placement and you will also need to support a group of newly qualified social workers. You will carry out project work and deliver mentoring support and workshops and training online and in person where necessary.

    Who we are looking for:

    We are looking for an individual who has experience of supporting student social workers or newly qualified social workers in a practice educator capacity or who is working towards that post qualifying award. You will also need :-

  • Outstanding prioritisation skills and able to work to tight timeframes
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly the ability to manage demanding and challenging discussions sensitively and effectively, and the ability to write concise and clear documents.
  • Experience or ability to learn skills in learning & development, including identifying workforce development needs, developing and implementing workforce development plans, evaluating impact and measuring effectiveness.
  • A PEPS approved Practice Educator Award or willingness to undertake the training
  • A people-orientated approach and be enthusiastic and positive about helping others develop to achieve their potential.
  • Strong commitment to Social Work Values and the values of the organisation.
