    Role:
    Senior Quantitative Researcher (European Gas and Power Risk)

    Hybrid:
    Up to 4 days in the office

    We have partnered with a leading firm in the commodities sector is seeking an exceptional Quantitative Researcher to join their Commodities Risk Management team, reporting directly to the Head of Commodities Risk Analytics and Risk Advisory.

    Formulating and executing models for risk assessment of commodity products and derivatives, including methodologies for constructing term structures and volatility surfaces.

    # Enhancing and extending existing risk reporting tools, encompassing risk analysis, P&L attribution, and portfolio construction, focusing on both regular periodic reporting and ad-hoc requests.
    # Developing methodologies and protocols for conducting historical and hypothetical stress testing, and analyzing results using standardized statistical metrics.
    # Collaborating with Risk Management to configure and calibrate risk systems.
    # Applying quantitative techniques to address risk-related topics, such as estimating market liquidity and liquidation costs.
    # Contributing to the overall risk management team at the company in risk analytics, processes, and reporting, which may involve ad-hoc risk analysis for portfolios not centered on commodities or examining the impact of a commodities-focused portfolio on the firm's overall risk.
    # Contributing to the understanding of risk drivers and considerations in related markets by the Global Risk Committee.
    # Collaborating with the technology team to automate, maintain, and enhance the integration of research and reporting solutions into the existing infrastructure.
    # Collaborating with risk management to onboard new portfolios and products.

    A minimum of 10 years of experience as a commodities quant, strategist, or quantitative risk officer at a physical energy trading firm.

    Strong academic background (master's/doctorate) in quantitative fields such as mathematics, physics, engineering, statistics, economics, or finance.

    Proficiency in valuing and modeling physical commodity assets and structured transactions, such as gas or oil storage, power tolls, and transmission.

    Experience with a wide range of commodities including electricity, congestion markets, natural gas, crude oil, oil products, energy assets, agricultural commodities, structured transactions, and shipping.

    Experience with seasonality in commodities risk models.
    Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with familiarity with numeric libraries such as pandas and numpy.
    Advanced Python knowledge, including management of virtual environments, release processes, or multi-processing. Experience in developing Plotly Dash dashboards and other data visualization tools.

    Experience working at a hedge fund or other asset management firms with exposure to systematic futures strategies or portfolio construction.

    Experience with factor analysis, PCA, decomposition models for P&L and risk, and machine learning.
