    Job summary

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Data coordinator to join the trauma and orthopaedic team within the surgical directorate.

    The post holder will work as part of the nurse practitioner team at Cheltenham organising appointments for follow up arthroplasty patients, entering data for the national joint registry and British spine registry. The post holder also organises bloods for the metal on metal hip patients. A varied and interesting role working within the team of advanced nurse practitioners for T and O.

    The post is full time and hours will be day time but some weekend/out of hours may be required in the future and therefore the post is both varied and interesting. For further information please contact: - Sarah Price ANP on or Sharon Wade Consultant nurse

    Main duties of the job

    Work autonomously within operating procedures and protocols to manage workload, whilst working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

    Maintain adequate patient records and ensure all relevant information is documented in the patient's medical and nursing notes if required.

    Organise database for patients on a monthly basis, to include requesting appointment slots for follow clinics and send copies of letters to GP for information, insert clinic letters into notes.

    Generate patient letters for blood test requests and prepare blood forms for clinician to complete.

    Contact patients with results if required and liaise with GP surgeries to chase results not available on pathology system. Assisting with the annual NJR audit and working to ensure the trust has a high level of patient consent rate and contacting patients will be required.

    Ordering notes to extract data from missing NJR operations, this involves the use of PACs to find missing information.

    Supporting ANP staff by producing graphs/charts with data provided from ERAS/COAP

    Manage the spinal registry by extracting the data from the operating lists and clinical case notes to populate the British spinal registry.

    Organise the arthroplasty review clinics and set up appointments each week for the nurse practitioner clinics.

    Manage outcomes and update patient data.

    Job description

    Job responsibilities

    The post holder will provide support to the clinical team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust across the county to ensure accurate and timely collection and collation of information supporting the National Joint Registry, the continuing of the Metal-on-Metal monitoring programme, and manage the British Spinal Registry. The role also includes organising Arthroplasty Telephone appointment bookings. Monthly PROMS collection and recording also forms part of the role.

    The post holder will be responsible for maintaining the Metal on Metal spreadsheet/database and extracting missed data from patients notes as well as contacting patients who require a blood test and collating these results on the metal on metal monitoring system. The post holder will also be responsible for managing the National Joint Registry (NJR) database which involves data entry and finding information in a timely manner to ensure compliance with national and local standards.

    The post holder will also be responsible extracting patient data and entering into the British Spinal Registry (BSR) whilst maintaining a cross-reference spread sheet. Furthermore, the role will involve providing data that will need to be submitted every quarter for the Best Tariff Practice.Monthly PROMS collection is recorded onto a spread sheet and sent for collection.

    The post holder will work closely with the nurse practitioners, Consultant medical staff admin and ward staff.

    Knowledge, Skills and Experience required;

    Good communication and interpersonal skills

    Ability to work autonomously using own initiative, and as a member of a small team.

    Well-developed organisational skills and ability to multi-task required to maintain and update excel spreadsheet with over 800 patients.

    Ability to work flexible hours as required meeting service needs.

    Computer literate with Microsoft Office software, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook

    GCSE level IT skills

    Flexibility to ensure achievement of objectives within constantly changing environments.

    Ability to extract appropriate clinical information from the patients notes to populate the spinal registry and metal on metal datbase

    Most Challenging Part of the Job;

    Keeping accurate records on a weekly basis as data results become available.

    Working to a timeframe as blood tests are required.

    Keeping the National Joint Registry up to date, as the trust performs 2000 plus joint operations per year as it involves cross site travel from both sites.

    Managing the British spinal registry which requires accurate data extraction and continual update of the database.

    Physical Effort and Working Conditions;
