Description

We are looking for an experienced and thoughtful Adult Psychotherapist to join our team for twelve months to help our expanding Diabetes Psychotherapy service.

You will join our Lead Psychotherapist within a medical department providing psychotherapy clinics for patients presenting with distress relating to their diabetes, and sometimes complex health care needs.

We are based at the Royal United Hospital in Bath and are a large friendly team comprising of consultants, specialist nurses, dieticians and podiatrists.

We benefit from good working relationships between our psychotherapists and our colleagues in the wider team. Excellent clinical supervision is provided by senior therapists to help you develop your skills.

The Diabetes Psychotherapy Service offers psychotherapy to patients with type 1 and type 2 Diabetes to effectively foster self care and reduce distress relating to diabetes.

Some of the patients may present with complex needs requiring additional support, such as autism or ADHD.

The post will offer training and support to learn about the specifics of diabetes and how psychotherapy can improve medical outcomes for patients.

There is currently a long waiting list of patients requiring this service.
