    Ward U3 is looking for a full-timemotivatedSister/Charge Nurse to join our busy, friendly Specialist Team.

    Our new U3 Haematology ward, featuring 30 beds, is set to revolutionise patient care in Haematology/Oncology patients. We deliver a wide range of therapies and Specialist care and offer exciting training opportunities.

    You will assist the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in the overall management of theWard ensure patientsare providedwith safe, individualised, holistic and evidence-based care and provide leadership to all members of thewardpromotingeffective teamwork.

    This post involves a full range of shifts, including nights and weekends. You will also be required to hold a divisional bleep.

    Experience in looking after cancer patients is essential.

    Main duties of the job Assist the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in the overall management of the ward. Ensure patients are provided with a safe, individualised, holistic and evidence based care.     • Current registration with NMC
    • Chemotherapy competent
    • Mentorship
    • Evidence of continuous professional development with application.
    Desirable
    • Degree
    • Teaching/ Assessing qualifications
    • Course relevant to clinical speciality
    Experience Essential
    • Relevant post registration experience in haematology
    • Demonstrate expert nursing skills
    • Experience in BMT setting
    • Experience in mentoring and teaching junior staff
    • Accepts personal accountability for own practice
    Desirable
    • Deputising for Senior Sister/ Senior Charge Nurse in his/her absence
    • Experience of shift/ward management in the absence of senior colleagues
    Knowledge Essential
    • NMC Code of Conduct and guidelines for professional practice
    • Sound theoretical and practical knowledge of nursing care within the clinical area (haemato/oncology)
    • Knowledge of care of the BMT patient
    • Awareness of need to demonstrate a professional appearance and behaviours
    • An understanding of the professional nursing agenda.
    Desirable
    • Awareness of broader issues affecting healthcare provision
    • Knowledge of Risk management processes
    • Health and safety awareness
    • Quality issues and clinical governance awareness
    Skills Essential
    • Competent in chemotherapy and management of haematology patients
    • Ability to manage acutely ill/deteriorating patients
    • Ability to provide leadership in order to influence patient care standards
    • Ability to transfer skills to other wards and areas in order to fulfil the directorate bleep holder role.
    • Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure in order to maximise positive outcomes
    • Ability to provide effective role modelling to other team members
    • Effective time management
    • Motivated to work effectively as part of the multi-disciplinary team
    • Willingness to adapt to change as the organisation develops
    • Re-infusion of cell therapy
    Desirable
    • Counselling skills
    • Able to safely and effectively hold the directorate's bleep
    • Good understanding of triage or acute care
