    Job summary

    An exciting opportunity has arisen within F3 Pre assessment Clinic for a committed paediatric Sister/Charge Nurse with a passion for Pre-assessment. You will be part of a small, supportive team but will be required to work independently within the clinic and manage a workload.

    We are looking for someone with good organisational skills and a vision to provide a quality service. You will be expected to work alongside the existing team to provide a positive experience for patients and family members whilst helping to develop the service. As a band 6 there will be an expectation that you will lead a team of staff and undertake development reviews, 1:1 meetings and complete sickness meetings. You will also be responsible for developing the service and creating a positive work environment for all staff in Pre-Assessment.

    Main duties of the job

    To work as part of a multidisciplinary team, (including Consultant Anaesthetist, Pharmacist, infection control, paediatric recovery and therapies) providing safe and efficient care for children and young people undergoing Pre-Assessment for elective surgery and medical admissions.

    To work as a clinical specialist within the Pre-Assessment Team.

    Support training and development of all grades of staff, including the provision of a positive learning environment in which staff can maximise their potential.

    Manage the service and deputise for the Lead Practitioner as requested.

    To work autonomously to optimise within timeframes.

    A welcome subsidy of £1000 is available to all Band 5 and Band 6 Nurses, Midwives, ODPs and Radiographers taking up substantive employment with the Trust.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • RN (Child) / RSCN
  • Educated to Diploma level
  • Teaching/assessing/mentoring module
  • Desirable

  • Degree
  • Post registration study relevant to post
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Significant acute General Paediatric Nursing experience
  • Experience in leading a team or in routinely coordinating a shift on a children's ward
  • Desirable

  • Experience working on both a medical and a surgical ward
  • Experience in managing a change in clinical practice
  • Experience

  • Broad knowledge of medical and surgical nursing care
  • Good understanding of Safeguarding issues
