    Cancer Practice Development Senior Sister/Charge Nurse - Cambridge, United Kingdom - Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

    Job summary

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to lead the Cancer Practice Developments service. We are looking for an experienced nurse with extensive experience in cancer care as well as systemic anti-cancer therapy delivery. You will have the passion to lead the practice development nursing team, Cancer rotation programme and continue to develop the Cancer education framework whilst working collaboratively with peers. You will have excellent communication and clinical skills, and put patients at the heart of your work. You will have the opportunity to develop your proven staff management skills, leadership style and have the enthusiasm, drive and motivation to succeed in the post.

    You will report to the Lead Chemotherapy Nurse and form a part of the Division B Senior Nurse team, working closely with your peers, the Matron team and joining the clinical back-up roster. Your role will incorporate providing education in the clinical areas, and formally structured education in the classroom, however 60% of your time will focus on the development of the education service, this may include creation of new education pathways, working with the Trust education team to roll out new ways of working or supporting recruitment and retention initiatives, including a small number of weekend to support recruitment events.

    Main duties of the job

    To demonstrate professional leadership and act as a role model.

    Lead development projects for the Cancer Education Framework such asSystemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT), Stem Cell reinfusion competencies, Oncology & Haematology focused education & training, and core nursing foundation skills.

    Facilitate recruitment, retention, induction, orientation and supervision of nursing staff newly employed within the Cancer Directorate and to facilitate the development of the existing nursing establishment.

    Oversee the cancer rotation nurse program.

    Work with the Trust Education team to support the delivery of the Trust education strategy. This will include representing Division B at Trust wide meetings or working groups. Play a key leadership role in the provision of Professional Nurse Advocate service with Division B and across the needed to deputise for the Lead Chemotherapy Nurse.

    To ensuring the provision of a high quality, effective and safe clinical service in line with the corporate nursing and midwifery agenda. To work in partnership with other senior nurses in the development of services both within the Division and across the Trust.
