    Job summary

    Do you have the skills to maintain morale, support and motivate a team as well as being able to prioritise care and effectively lead the team during times of staff shortage and high acuity? If so an exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join the team as a Band 6 Registered Nurse.

    Hinchingbrooke Dialysis Unit is one of 4 off site dialysis units managed by Addenbrooke's Hospital and is located at Hinchingbrooke Hospital within Huntingdon. We are a nurse led unit supported by our multi-disciplinary team colleagues from offsite. You will be employed by CUH working in partnership with Fresenius Medical Care.

    The 20 station satellite unit compromises of 18 operational stations and 2 isolation rooms, dialysing a mixture of long-term dialysis dependent patients from in and around the surrounding area and any of our regular dialysis patients who become inpatients from Hinchingbrooke Hospital.

    Our shift patterns will be as follows, following consultation for opening a twilight shift:-

    Monday, Wednesday, Friday Tuesday Thursday Saturday - - -

    We are not open on Sundays unless the unit has a service provision need or if Christmas/ New Year day falls Monday - Saturday. You can work flexibly across the variety of the aforementioned shifts. Prior dialysis experience is desirable but not essential.

    Main duties of the job

    To assist the Senior Sister in the overall running of the ward and the co-ordination of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure a safe and effective standard of patient care

    To be a team leader for a group of patients receiving Heamodialysis in a clinical setting

    To provide leadership in a chronic dialysis setting

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Current registration with NMC on part one or two of the register
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and its application
  • Desirable

  • Teaching Assessing Qualification
  • Course in clinical specialty or relevant field/ Renal nursing course
  • Experience

    Essential

  • Experience of shift unit management in absence of senior colleagues
  • Experience within Dialysis and renal services including Acute Dialysis experience
  • Experience of mentoring junior staff
  • Experience of teaching junior staff
  • Post registration experience in a relevant field
  • Desirable

  • Experience of delegate Senior Sister responsibility during the absence of manager
  • Experience of clinical supervision/action / learning / reflective practice
  • Knowledge
