We are looking to recruit a Deputy sister to join our established team.
In this role you will provide clinical leadership to the nursing team, working closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team and be responsible for ensuring patients are discharged safely.This role would suit a senior band 5 who is looking for a career progression and a new challenge and can demonstrate some experience with ward management. There is an expectation to perform various initiatives and participating in teaching, audits and staff appraisals.You should be able to demonstrate a good range of experience evidence that you have skills in the coordination of care, typically through Nurse in Charge or Shift Leader Competencies.
We have a clear leadership vision and provide opportunities to develop in this role. Alongside an internal leadership development program we also link with local Universities and the East Midlands and NHS Leadership Academy. We actively encourage continual professional development and the implementation of new ideas which promote excellent patient care. Alongside leadership development we also have access to a vast range of clinical development modules related to the specialty.
Ensures Ward patientboard is kept up to date with all appropriate clinical & operational information
Demonstrates anunderstanding of relevant admission & discharge pathways and their relationship with high quality,safe care Promotes and prioritises appropriate operational patient flow through ward area in a timely patientadmission / transfer and use of discharge lounge documentation Communicates and escalates operational & safety risks appropriately e.g. Lead Nurse, Discharge team,Clinical Operational team Champion patient centred care planning ensuring staff understand their role in building relationshipswith individual patients and accept the Key Nurse role Uphold NMC code and standards, includingrecord keeping and medicines management Ensure that care is coordinated across all professions for the benefit of patient experience
Ensure that all staff know how to escalate concerns in practice regarding risk, e.g. a patient with delirium whois at risk of falling. Facilitate effective admission and discharge processes including the use of Medway, Effectively supports the Practice Improvement Facilitators in sharing best practice messages with theteam and embedding change Enable staff to discuss the potential for the implementation of safeguarding processes MCA, DoLs andBest interests and support them in the use of these as required. Education and practice developmentEnsure that the team are competent to deliver the roles within which they are employed using Trustwide competency standard approach and education programmes
