THE ROLEIn this role you will join the Legal and Governance team to provide support to the Bank's debt and guarantee product divisions. As part of its mission to make finance markets work better for small businesses across the UK, the British Business Bank (BBB) provides a number of guarantees and wholesale debt products. You will provide legal support on matters relating to these debt schemes in addition to supporting the wider team on public law, disputes, regulatory issues and corporate commercial matters as required.
Reporting to the Legal Director, you will focus on the Guarantees and Wholesale and the British Business Investments teams, providing advice on structured debt products, including synthetic and cash securitisations and regulatory capital issuances. You will provide advice on the Bank's management of its portfolio, including in relation to its direct guarantee schemes.
All members of the legal team are also required to contribute to the standardisation of transaction documentation and processes, know-how and training.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a lawyer with a minimum of 2-4 years PQE.
It is essential that you have experience working in banking or structured finance with knowledge of managing complex projects. You will be willing to learn new areas of law, have good execution and negotiating skills, and demonstrate excellent transaction management. It would be desirable, although not essential, to have experience working in central Government and/or financial services with knowledge of FCA permissions.
