Job Overview- To supervise grounds maintenance operators to achieve the highest level of maintenance service to the client

  • To effectively plan maintenance work across the operational region ensuring efficient use of labour, materials and equipment
  • Ensure works are delivered to the required standards
  • To represent the business
  • To periododically "stand in" for the Contract Manager by attending meetings with internal and external customers and carry out site visits
  • Implement a positive health and safety culture

Main duties

  • Day to day management of operational teams
  • Ensure you and your teams carry out duties and tasks to the highest standard of customer service and completed on time.
  • Work to promote a positive health and safety culture in accordance with the Mitie Landscapes H&S policy
  • To develop a professional and effective operational team, ensuring objectives are set, monitored and achieved
  • Build effective relationships with the ops teams, internal and external customers, answering queries and keeping them informed of site activities and developments
  • Identify opportunities site reports, site enhancement works, and opportunities to increase scope of contract works.
  • Provide support to the Contract Manager by assisting in scheduling the rounds for the operations teams
  • To understand and complete all work related documentation accurately and on time
  • To understand and comply with policies and procedures
  • To carry out work in a safe and diligent manner
  • To attend and fully participate in training and appraisal activities as required
  • To support the development of new sales, helping to ensure continuous growth
  • To provide management information/reporting as required
  • To undertake additional duties in line with capabilities as required
  • Support the winter maintenance programme during the winter period, during evenings/weekends

Daily Tasks

  • Managing your teams, communicating with them daily, ensure absence, sickness and holiday is communicated to the Contracts Manager.
  • Identify areas of a site that have not been completed on a visit, report to the Account Manager and Contract Manager.
  • Site reporting.
  • Identifying hazards and risks, and reporting them.
  • Daily communication with Contracts Manager.

Weekly Tasks

  • Ensure operational teams have correct PPE, uniform, tools and chemical. Manage and record levels of all stock issued to ops teams and advise the Contract Manager of any requirements that need to be ordered.
  • Visit sites and carry out a minimum of 15 audits per week.

Monthly Tasks

  • Carry out vehicle audits on the commercial fleet of vehicles within the region.
  • Carry out Toolbox Talks with all operations teams and obtain signatures of all attendees.
  • Hands on time with all teams. Assist, train, motivate and develop operatives skill set. Enforcing the standards required across all contracts 'What Good Looks Like'.
  • Assist with identification of site and team of the month.
  • Attend operations meetings with Operations Manager.

Annual Tasks

  • Assist the Contract Manager with planning and presenting refresher training workshops for work related tasks such as; use of hedge cutters, use of pedestrian mowers, knapsack calabration and use of rideon mowers.
  • Assist the Contract Manager with planning and presenting winter training workshops for work related tasks such as; gritting using a vehicle mounted spreader, gritting using a pedestrian spreader and snow clearing using a vehicle mounted snow plough.
  • Assist the Contract Manager and Operations Manager with the coordination of 'Operator Engagement Days'.
