Contracts Specialist - Aberdeen, United Kingdom - Fugro
Description
Job Description
Do you want to join our Geo-data revolution? Fugro's global reach and unique know-how will put the world at your fingertips. Our love of exploration and technical expertise help us to provide our clients with invaluable insights. We source and make sense of the most relevant Geo-data for their needs, so they can design, build and operate their assets more safely, sustainably and efficiently. But we're always looking for new talent to take the next step with us. For bright minds who enjoy meaningful work and want to push our pioneering spirit further. For individuals who can take the initiative but work well within a team.
The role
As a Contracts Specialist you'll provide contractual support to commercial, project teams and support functions within Fugro.
You will be responsible for ensuring all activities are carried out with the highest regard to the health and safety of all involved and to the protection of the environment and prevention of pollution, all in accordance with Fugro quality and safety systems. You will ensure that all activities are undertaken to the highest quality and professionalism and in accordance with Fugro's Integrated Management System.
Other responsibilities will include reviewing and advising on contractual terms and conditions for tenders and proposed contracts and subcontracts including contractual and commercial qualifications. You will support commercial and project teams in negotiations with clients and suppliers with the aim of aggregating contracts that will allow successful execution of projects in line with Fugro objectives and at minimum commercial and legal risk to Fugro. You will be responsible for advising on contract risk and contractual strategy and assisting with implementing appropriate risk mitigation measures. You will be expected to provide contractual advice, on tenders and contracts to commercial managers, bid leaders and project managers and assisting in the resolution of contractual disputes. You will help to support the resolution of ongoing issues, disputes and claims on Fugro contracts. You will advise on subcontracts, contract amendments/variations, non-disclosure agreements, performance bonds and parent company guarantees and insurance matters. You will be responsible for the preparation and implementation of inter-company contracts as well as the maintenance of the contract register.
Additionally, you will provide general ad-hoc advice on contracts and legal matters whilst updating and maintaining the contracts database and providing general administration support. You will also be responsible for identifying personnel training needs and bring them to the attention of the Contracts Manager.
Who we're looking for:
The ideal candidate for this role should possess knowledge and understanding of contracts and contractual documents, holding a suitable legal, project management or supply chain management qualification that incorporates contract law, preferably to degree level, although not essential.
You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills whilst being able to demonstrate effective negotiation skills. You will have the ability to problem solve and the business acumen to think strategically, confidently making informed decisions. You will interact positively and work effectively with others whilst enhancing customer satisfaction and building strong customer relationships.
Experience in a similar role at this level, along with a solid technical background and understanding of the technical disciplines in which Fugro operates would be preferable, although not essential.
What we offer:
Fugro provides a positive work environment as well as projects that will satisfy the most curious minds. We also offer great opportunities to stretch and develop yourself. By giving you the freedom to grow faster, we think you'll be able to do what you do best, better. Which should help us to find fresh ways to get to know the earth better. We encourage you to be yourself at Fugro. So bring your energy and enthusiasm, your keen eye and can-do attitude. But bring your questions and opinions too. Because to be the world's leading Geo-data specialist, we need the strength in depth that comes from a diverse, driven team.
At Fugro, our people are our superpower. Their variety of viewpoints, experiences, knowledge and talents give us collective strength. Distinctive beliefs and diverse backgrounds are therefore welcome, but discrimination, harassment, inappropriate behaviour and unfair treatment are not. Everybody is to be well-supported and treated fairly. And everyone must be valued and have their voice heard. Crucially, we believe that getting this right brings a sense of belonging, of safety and acceptance, that makes us feel more connected to Fugro's purpose 'together create a safe and liveable world' – and to each other.
Disclaimer for recruitment agencies:
Fugro does not accept any unsolicited applications from recruitment agencies. Acquisition to Fugro Recruitment or any Fugro employee is not appreciated.
