The Company

We are working with a software business based in Newcastle who're looking to add a Test Analyst to their Software Delivery team.

Quality assurance is an essential part of the software development lifecycle and it plays a vital role in shaping user experience.

This role is critical to enabling the company to deliver responsive, robust and secure software products that satisfy both userand business requirements.

The job holder will work within multi-disciplinary project teams to promote and ensure high quality software development, design and testing takes place across a range of multi-platform products (desktop, web and mobile).


Essential:


  • Demonstrated experience within a software test environment.
  • Experience of exploratory, regression and requirements verification testing.
  • Experienced in writing and executing test scripts.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with technical and nontechnical teams.
  • Genuine interest in the challenges of high quality software development.
  • A methodical approach that can be applied to software testing.
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle.

Desirable:


  • ISEB or ISTQB qualification.
  • Software programming experience.
  • Test automation experience.
  • Knowledge of SQL databases with the ability to write and execute queries.
  • Experience working in an agile software development project team.

Role/Requirements:


  • Develop an indepth knowledge of the software products, to be able to perform high quality testing.
  • Understand product requirements and review functional specifications, to detect and remove defects early in the product development life cycle.
  • Accurately plan and estimate testing required on product requirements to help determine scope of development cycles.
  • Create and maintain test cases in line with product requirements.
  • Execute test cases on product functionality and verify outcomes against expected results.
  • Perform exploratory testing on product requirements.
  • Perform regression testing to ensure existing functionality works as expected.
  • Use test automation tools to improve the quality of testing.
  • Enter defects into the defect tracking system by recording the steps that were taken to exercise the functionality and the technical problems that occurred.
  • Verify defects have been resolved by development and design teams.
  • Create and update Quality Assurance test environments.
  • Report test status to Software Developers and Software Development Managers.
  • The job holder may also be asked to undertake other duties outside of this job description that are commensurate with their skills and experience, including tasks delegated by the Software Development Manager and other management staff.


The role is based in the centre of Newcastle Upon Tyne with hybrid working conditions,1-2 days a week in the office.
