    Job summary

    Are youlooking to move into General Practice and develop your clinical skills? We arelooking for an additional pharmacy technician to join our well established,exceptional Clinical Pharmacy team, working across North Wilts Borders PCN,covering Purton, Cricklade, Royal Wootton Bassett, & Malmesbury.

    Thisexciting post will form part of the NHS England training & educationprogramme as part of the primary care pharmacy education pathway and you willbe supported by our Senior Clinical Pharmacist and the individual surgery teams

    Salarynegotiable depending on experience plus inclusion in NHS pension scheme.

    Main duties of the job

    The practicepharmacy technician will support all practice staff, including GPs, nurses,admin staff and receptionists in providing an efficient, effective service toour patients.

    Liaisingwith community and secondary care pharmacists, along with ICB medicinesmanagement team will ensure a consistent, proactive and resourceful addition tothe team.

    The purposeof the role is to lead improvements to maximise safe, cost effective bestpractice in prescribing to improve the quality of patient care. Help patientsto get the best from their medicines by switching medications to agreed andapproved protocols, improving repeat prescribing processes in generalpractices, including promotion of repeat dispensing and online ordering,minimising clinical risk and aiming to reduce wasted medicines.

    Job responsibilities

    MainDuties and Responsibilities

    Support therole of the PCN Clinical Pharmacist on the delivery of the new ClinicalPharmacy in General Practice model

    Carryout medicines switches in GP practices in line with practice and ICB agreedspecific protocols reviewing patients records; amending records and informingpatients

    Carryout housekeeping whilst in patient records dose optimisation and medicinessynchronisation

    Improveprescribing processes in general practice

    Promotionof electronic repeat dispensing and online ordering

    Reporton key performance indicators for CPGP to demonstrate added value for patientsand general practice in accordance with NICE guidance

    Useand maintain information systems and databases relevant to the positionincluding incident reporting, medicines optimisation, prescribing data, costsavings and patient outcomes

    Workclosely with GP practices and the ICB Clinical Pharmacy in General Practicelead

    Participatein practice meetings, patient participation groups, and other meetings toimprove engagement of the role of pharmacy technician within the CPGP model andto promote issues relevant to prescribing and medicines optimisation

    Liaisewith other pharmacy stakeholders ICB Medicines Optimisation team,community pharmacy, and hospital pharmacy teams.

    Supportthe Medicines Optimisation team in the delivery of the Medicines Optimisationstrategy

    Handlefunction specific information, which may be sensitive, complex or confidentialand appropriately recording, transferring and/or coordinating such informationin accordance with the Data Protection Act; Caldicott Guidelines and theConfidentiality Code of Conduct

    Tobe responsible for the organisation, planning and of own workload to meet setdeadlines

    Toutilise GP practice clinical systems to conduct prescribing audits SystmOne.

    Toundertake, participate and share the outcomes of clinical audits to facilitateimprovement and changes in practice

    Asinstructed by the ICB Medicines Safety Officer, ensure that all major MHRA drugalerts, where appropriate and within level of competence, are acted upon withinpractices over an appropriate time frame and to advise on any medicationchanges that occur as a result

    Toassist in the monitoring of prescribing expenditure at individual practicelevel and propose changes to ensure containment within identified resource

    Toundertake learning and development to ensure the required knowledge and skillsfor practice based work

    Tocarry out other duties which are appropriate to the skills and competencies ofthe post holder and grade of the post as the priorities of the service change

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Professional registration with GPhC
  • BTEC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in pharmaceutical sciences
  • Evidence of continued professional development (CPD)
  • Experience of working as a qualified, registered pharmacy technician in primary care, community or hospital pharmacy
