Are you a dedicated and passionate Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) wanting to make a real and lasting difference to the lives of people with communication difficulties?
If you are an enthusiastic, flexible and highly motivated Speech and Language Therapist with specialist skills in dysphagia then we would love to hear from you.
Working across two of our sites - Richmond House and Lombard House (CQC rated as Good) has an exciting post to work as part of a highly motivated, supportive and friendly multi-disciplinary team.
Richmond House is an eight-bedded community locked rehabilitation hospital for women and Lombard House is an nine bedded community Locked rehabilitation service for men. Both services provide rehabilitation focused treatment to service users with a history of offending/challenging behaviour who have a learning disability (LD) and other conditions including autistic spectrum disorders (ASDs), personality disorders and mental illnesses.
We aim to support our patients in the transition to community placements and further independence.
The specialist LD units are both community based one step away from community placements and linked to the secure hospital framework. The services are an important part and building community participation and assessing risk whilst working within a therapeutic milieu and working with a specialist clinical team
The Role/ Key Responsibilities
As a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT), you will manage a caseload of clients to maximise their potential and enable them to enjoy the best possible quality of life via the delivery of an evidence-based SLT service.
You will promote effective functional communication, social skills development, collaborative working and a total communication environment.
You will assess communication needs, whilst implementing and developing the SLT programme according to client's diagnosis and identified needs.
You will be involved in setting SMART targets and using appropriate outcome measures to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
You will attend ward rounds, CPA's and CTR's for your client caseload and be involved in working as part of a team to develop MDT therapeutic interventions and Care Plans.
Person-centred planning is at the heart of everything we do, based on the specific needs of the individuals in our care.

To be successful in this role, you'll need
• HCPC approved Degree/ Masters (or equivalent) In Speech and Language Therapy
• To be registered with HCPC and RCSLT
• A minimum of 2 years experience
• The ability to supervise Newly Qualified SLT's and students
• Experience in working with a client population who present with a diagnosis of Learning Disability /Autism (ASD), along with complex needs and challenging behaviour
• Experience in or an interest in Dysphagia management (desirable but not essential)
• The ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
• Excellent communication / time management skills
