    Additional Payments: 6.7% Flexibility Payment

    This role is subject to -

    Casual Car Documentation - The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis, but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use.

    We have an exciting role within Manchester Libraries within the Children's and Access Team.

    Key areas of responsibility:

  • Contribute to the development and delivery of programmes to promote reading for pleasure and which support children to develop a love of reading
  • Work collaboratively with the Read Manchester campaign to promote reading to communities in the city
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues from a variety of teams to develop and deliver engaging programmes and schemes of work for children and young people.
  • Contribute to the planning, development and implementation of children's library services, events and initiatives across Manchester Libraries
  • Support the delivery of a class visit programme city-wide which involves both face-to-face and online sessions with authors and creatives.
  • Support the team to co-ordinate programmes which are delivered by the team or by other local library staff
  • Support a wide range of promotional events and activities for all ages – in libraries and in other places.
  • Confidently use IT to support programming by collecting/recording data and managing a booking system for school visits
  • Promote the team's work through social media
  • Support the extensive book gifting programme which distributes free books to schools and community partners across the city
  • Have an interest in, and understanding of, developing children's literacy through reading for pleasure.
