    Job summary

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for an OccupationalTherapist in the Vascularand Emergency Surgery team at the John Radcliffe Hospital. We areseeking an eager candidate who is able to provide a high standard of Occupationaltherapy intervention to one of the largest standalone emergency surgery units,our gastroenterology ward and specialist vascular centre

    Main duties of the job

    Toprovide high quality, safe and effective Occupational Therapy services torelevant clinical areas within the rotation, as part of a cohesivemulti-professional team.

    Towork collaboratively with patients and their carers to assess, goal plan andtreat patients following admission to hospital and strive to maximise theirindependence and quality of life.

    Tosupervise and teach recently qualified Occupational Therapists, support workersOccupational Therapy students

    Tomanage a varied caseload and plan and undertake Occupational Therapyassessments and interventions, including seeing and supporting with morecomplex cases.

    Towork autonomously whilst maintaining up-to-date records in line with trustpolicy.

    Participationin weekend rotas.

    The Trust/Ward/Department

    Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one ofthe largest NHS teaching trusts in the country. It provides a wide range ofgeneral and specialist clinical services and is a base for medical education,training, and research.

    The Trust comprises four hospitals - the John RadcliffeHospital, Churchill Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Headington andthe Horton General Hospital in Banbury.

    The John RadcliffeHospital (JR) is Oxfordshire's main accident and emergency site. The JRprovides acute medical and surgical services including trauma, intensive careand cardiothoracic services. It is situated in Headington, about three mileseast of Oxford city centre. It is the largest of the Trust's hospitals,covering around 66 acres, and specialist hospitals. The John Radcliffe sitealso houses many departments of Oxford University Medical School, is home tothe George Pickering Education Centre and base for most medical students whoare trained throughout the Trust.

    The Responsibilities

    • Tobe successful in applying for this role you will need:

  • Relevant degree or equivalent
  • Current relevant professional registration
  • Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience
  • Enhanced DBS
  • UK/NHS experience
  • Proficient IT knowledge and Microsoft Office skills
  • Computer literate with experience of working with Microsoft Office
  • Broad range of experience at band 5 level including core areas, such as respiratory, orthopaedics, neurology, older adults
