An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the Rheumatology Occupational Therapy Team based at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee. This post supports the Tayside Rheumatology Service, providing Occupational Therapy to patients with Rheumatoid conditions and Osteoarthritis.
The team consists of Doctors, Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Pharmacist, Physiotherapists, and Podiatrists. You will be based in the Rheumatology / Hands treatment room at Ninewells Hospital, working closely with Rheumatology and Hand Therapy colleagues. The job also involves the need to travel to out-patient clinics in Dundee and Angus.
The Rheumatology Occupational Therapy service operates within a bio psychosocial model of care and a personal outcomes approach. The candidate must have the ability to work autonomously at a specialist level, carrying out assessment and interventions in the areas of ADL, hand function, pain, fatigue, sleep and work, supporting patients with the self – management of their condition.
You will have responsibility for the supervision, education and development of more junior staff, and students within the speciality, provide a specialised resource to other healthcare staff / patients / carers and have an active involvement in Clinical Governance and Clinical Effectiveness and Research. The department has strong links with universities providing student placements primarily from Edinburgh and Aberdeen.
Monthly supervision, Turas review and opportunities for continuous professional development are supported.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
