    Senior Project Manager - Fire Services

    JOB SUMMARY:

    We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Project Manager to provide comprehensive support to fire services projects from design through to completion. This includes all stages from tendering, design, installation, testing, and commissioning. The successful candidate will manage fire services installations to ensure successful delivery in terms of health, safety, environment (HSE), programme, quality, compliance, and commercial aspects.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Design Review and Compliance

    • Review fire services designs for buildability and constructability, ensuring alignment with current standards and HSE best practices
    • Identify potential functionality issues and provide engineered solutions to satisfy client expectations and budget considerations
    • Documentation and Communication:
    • Manage design registers, meeting minutes, drawing registers, and formal communications (RFI's, TQ's, EWN's, MAR's)
    • Collaborate with the CAD team to ensure correct drawing modelling and resolve clash detection and interface problems

    Scope Development and Liaison:

    • Develop scope documents for tenders and procurement processes
    • Liaise with manufacturers for product suitability and attend FAT and SAT stages to ensure compliance with requirements

    Installation and Commercial Support:

    • Work closely with installation teams to ensure design suitability and solve installation issues
    • Track design changes and variances in collaboration with the commercial department
    • Plan design, installation, and testing & commissioning works with the planning department, providing accurate work forecasts and adjustments

    Subcontractor Management:

    • Manage subcontractor works, assist in valuation, and provide contract support as needed
    • Quality and Compliance:
    • Ensure all designs and works comply with VVB and client quality management systems
    • Stay updated with relevant fire services, construction legislation, standards, and best practices

    PERSON SPECIFICATION:

    • Technical Knowledge and Skills - Essential:
    • Knowledge of fire services installations legislation and standards, BIM and design modelling standards
    • Advanced MS Office skills, including Excel
    • Knowledge of design processes and associated compliance

    Desired:

    • Proficiency in Revit or equivalent BIM product
    • Experience with project planning software (P6 or MS Project)
    • Sustainability awareness

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Project management qualification (APM, PRINCE2, or equivalent)
    • HSE training, NEBOSH Construction Certificate
    • SMSTS
    • CSCS Card – AQP or PQP minimum

    COMPETENCIES / BEHAVIOURS:

    Essential:

    • Collaborative approach and ability to prioritise and delegate effectively
    • Decisive, works well under pressure, and has a flexible, 'can do' attitude
    • Strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to liaise on technical matters at all levels
    • Ability to establish good working relationships and balance customer and business interests
    • Forward-thinking, self-motivated, and flexible with willingness to work out of hours as necessary
    • Good contractual and commercial awareness
    • Experience in a Project Engineering/Management position within the construction industry
    • Previous experience within an M&E contractor
    • Experience in the infrastructure environment (utilities/civils, etc.)
