Salary: £28, £43, for Full time throughout the year)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week. Part time or term time only will be considered
Location: Wirral in schools providing education for children aged 3-19 with learning disabilities and/or complex needs
Purpose: To maximise communication potential for children and young people through direct and indirect assessment and intervention.
Essential requirements
• Speech and Language Therapy Degree or Masters
• Experience working with children who have complex needs, their families and the Multi-agency team
• Registration with RCSLT and HCPC
• Respect for confidential information
• Enhanced DBS applied for by the company following appointment
Desirable requirements
• Motivation to work with children who have complex needs within educational settings
• Skilled at giving and receiving positive and critical feedback to colleagues
• Training relevant to client group e.g. PECS, Elklan Total Training package for children and adults with ASD / 0-25 with complex needs
Core responsibilities.
• To provide a speech and language therapy services to children, directly and through support to their families and the multi-disciplinary team
• Provide speech, language and communication assessments for pupils / prospective pupils in consultation with the multi- disciplinary team and other SLTs and SLTAs
• Keep accurate records and provide written reports
• Set targets for therapy and monitor progress
• Provide intervention on an individual or group basis as required
• Develop and demonstrate SLT programmes and groups for pupils
• Hold responsibility for own caseload, working without direct supervision
• Work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, contributing to the planning, development and delivery of an effective and efficient service
• To liaise with other involved agencies and with families to provide an integrated service
• Support SLT student placements
• Contribute to the induction of others in the SEN and wider Education team
• Will facilitate clinical case discussions
• Will access clinical supervision within the team via regular meetings, supervision, mentoring and appraisals
• Will be committed to continuing their professional development
• Able to make independent decisions about caseload management
• Support the delivery of training programmes to others and contribute to the development of training
• Contribute to the evaluation and monitoring of services
