    Description
    King Edward VI Grammar School (KEVIGS) is an 11-18 school in Louth, Lincolnshire with approximately 960 students on roll.

    Our ethos is to provide our students with a holistic, academic education that builds a strong foundation for life beyond school.

    The musical life of KEVIGS is one of great richness, music forming a fundamental part of school life.

    In the curriculum and in the extra-curricular life of the school, there is a remarkable variety of ensembles and choirs, with all genres well catered for.

    There is a full-time Director of Music in the department, a Teacher of Music and several visiting music teachers. The majority of peripatetic teachers are provided through our partnership with the Lincolnshire Music Service.

    The Music Block was opened twenty years ago and provides space for state-of-the-art teaching, rehearsal and practice facilities in a superb building.

    Rooms include two large teaching rooms, two rehearsal rooms and six practice rooms.

    KEVIGS has very good technological facilities including a newly installed PC-based computer suite, with software including Dorico, Cubase and Focus on Sound.

    The school's Edward Street Hall is an excellent venue for concerts with a Kawai Grand Piano. It is the home for most school concerts, as well as St.

    There is a huge variety of extra-curricular music at KEVIGS and a great many ensembles to enable students to engage at whichever level is suited to them.

    There is an orchestral programme, choral programme as well as varied and immersive jazz and rock projects. James' Church, Louth where many students join the choristership scheme and participate in the wider worship of the school. KEVIGS enjoys a rich choral heritage and many past students have gone on to join national choral ensembles.
    Music is studied by all students in KS3, and then becomes an optional subject.

    Students are able to select the subject up to A-Level and many, over the years, have chosen to study Music at a top conservatoire or university.

    The School reserves the right to obtain formal and informal background information about an applicant to determine whether they are suitable to work at the School.

    Online searches and reference checks will be undertaken on shortlisted applicants and at interview all candidates must bring with them their birth certificate and a valid passport to confirm their identity, in addition to certificates confirming education and professional qualifications.

    An enhanced criminal record check via the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) will be undertaken for the successful candidate, including a check of the DBS Children's Barred List.

    It is an offence to apply for the role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
