    This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced risk professional to join Hiscox's newly created London Market and Re & ILS Risk and Compliance team.

    Working as a Senior Risk Manager, you will play a lead role in embedding Hiscox Group's Risk Management Framework in the Hiscox Commercial 'Big Ticket' businesses and acting as a trusted risk partner delivering insight and strategic challenge to build a stronger Hiscox.

    As a member of the Risk & Compliance function, you will develop meaningful, collaborative business working relationships to influence, challenge and verify risk decision-making in order to proactively manage risk.

    You will act as a thought leadership on risk management across the group and leverage the wider team for support and advice as needed.

    What you'll be doing as

    Senior Risk Manager:

    Develop a keen understanding of risks to Hiscox's 'Big Ticket' businesses; staying abreast of key market risk issues and regulatory requirements, trends and implications.

    Engage risk and control owners to build knowledge of their business/functions, understand current and developing areas of risk, identify gaps and exposure areas and provide advice and opinions.

    Lead second line risk reviews as part of providing effective oversight and challenge of London Market and Reinsurance & ILS businesses.

    Support the analysis of reported risk events and consider how external datasets can be used to help inform internal analysis.

    Support the roll out of the new Risk & Control Management System (RCMS) and managing the Risk & Control Self Assessments (RCSA) process.

    Support in maintaining the Risk and Control Register (RCR); the Internal Controls Framework (ICF) and Critical Risk Tracker.

    Provide second line of defence oversight over the embedding of Group Risk & Compliance Policies & Standards in Hiscox London Market and Re & ILS.

    Support the Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) process and the preparation of the ORSA report for key entities within the Hiscox Group.

    Foster a strong risk culture and actively work to hold first line owners to account for addressing key risk and control issues.

    Lead creation and coordination of risk reporting and documentation including Board/Risk Committee packs, Risk & Control Registers, risk policies, risk dashboards, regulatory assessments, presentations to meet internal and external deliverables.

    Professional qualifications or experience gained working in risk management or a related field (e.g.

    actuarial) within an insurance company (GI, not Life), including a proven track record in risk identification and assessment, risk appetite framework, policies and procedures, risk measurement and risk monitoring reporting.

    Familiarity with insurance regulatory regimes (e.g. Solvency II, Conduct Risk).

    Experience of general insurance company operations (not Life) including business model, profitability drivers, underwriting, business processes and risk management practices, either as a practitioner or consultant.

    Strong understanding of control environments and ability to assess and challenge risk and control assessments.

    Ability to diagnose an issue, consider options and approaches and implement robust and commercial solutions seamlessly whilst demonstrating depth of business and risk knowledge and critical thinking.

    Develop, manage and maintain multiple stakeholder relationships across all levels of the business and deals constructively with resistance or negative reactions from others.

    A great communicator with ability to combine persuasion and negotiation skills with leadership and influencing qualities to encourage stakeholders to positively respond to questions, inquiries and requests.
