    We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Nurse/ AHP with experience in Pain Management to join our team for fixed term, maternity cover.


    Herefordshire Pain Management Service are a multidisciplinary team who provide care to adults experiencing acute and chronic pain in hospital and community settings across Wye Valley NHS Trust.

    The service also provides care to paediatric inpatients experiencing acute pain, most commonly following surgery.


    The Specialist Pain Management Practitioner is an integral member of the team and has a key role in the Pain Management Service.

    They will work in conjunction with the wider consultant-led multidisciplinary team to deliver effective acute and chronic pain management across inpatient and outpatient settings in the trust.


    The Specialist Pain Management Practitioner will act as an ambassador for the Herefordshire Pain Management Service, role modelling best practice and clinical excellence in care.


    The Specialist Pain Management Practitioner will support local service improvement by helping to deliver quality improvement initiatives and applying governance processes.


    The Specialist Pain Management Practitioner will provide specialist advice, support, and education with a trauma informed approach to patients, carers, nurses and other members of the multi-disciplinary team for patients referred to the Herefordshire Pain Management Service.

    To provide care in a safe and efficient manner, maintaining and improving standards and at all times using available evidence.

    To work closely with the pain management multi-disciplinary team during collaborative working with primary and secondary care and other agencies to develop and extend services for patients within the speciality, including implementation of quality initiatives and targets.

    To participate in setting, monitoring and evaluating standards of individualised patient care.
    To provide care following the biopsychosocial model with a trauma informed approach.
    To influence and implement the local and national clinical governance agenda.
    To ensure adherence to the Trust's Health and Safety policies.
    To monitor, manage and report clinical workload to ensure the effective delivery or care and deployment of manpower, taking all possible actions to minimise risk when optimum staffing levels are not available, in accordance with local and national guidelines

    Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional holding registration with relevant regulatory body (eg The Nursing and Midwifery Council, The Health and Care Professions Council)
