    We are looking for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to lead a team of Mechanical Engineers and ensure that essential business projects are delivered promptly in line with Company strategy, advising, guiding and supporting the Mechanical Engineering Team.

    As Lead Mechanical Engineer you will work in partnership with leaders, key stakeholders and the Engineering Team to implement solutions to high engineering standards, both design and technical and in compliance to statutory regulations.

    You will provide coaching to your team and across the business, to drive improvements in the Mechanical engineering capability across Victrex. Alongside promoting a culture of continuous improvement within your team; identifying significant improvement opportunities and effectively communicating their benefits to the Senior Leadership Team. You will also be responsible for developing new talent through mentoring programmes and CPD.

    Reporting to the Engineering Manger you will be responsible for maintaining the Mechanical engineering competency standard across Victrex and for generating development plans to ensure the Company can deliver the manufacturing strategy compliantly. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining a network of Engineering Subject Matter Expertise across Victrex to ensure the business has the required competencies that can be efficiently accessed.

    As Lead Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for understanding the business requirements for engineering resources and ensuring that your team has competent resource to deliver the business goals, including recruitment and third-party resourcing. Alongside ensuring compliance with statutory regulations for engineering assets on the Hillhouse site and ensuring that industry best practice is followed, including PSSR, PUWER and LOLER.

    Your Experience

    Our ideal candidate will have experience of leading a small engineering team preferably in a chemical processing/COMAH regulated industrial environment. In addition to proven experience of successfully leading and delivering significant engineering projects and solutions as well as proven experience of the application of detailed problem solving to resolve complex problems. Knowledge and practical application of continuous improvement methods are also required.

    We are looking for someone with extensive knowledge and the practical application of Mechanical design, Mechanical statutory regulations and all Mechanical related Process safety activities. An Engineering degree or relevant experience and chartership are essential for this role. Ideally you will be Green or Black belt trained.
