    Job Description

    The Senior Cyber Security Consultant plays a critical role in shaping the cyber security strategy and implementing programs to ensure strong cyber resilience. This role involves managing the delivery of the cyber security strategy across all business units, identifying gaps in current capabilities, and leading initiatives to enhance security. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders, providing subject matter expertise, and aligning the cyber security approach with business objectives.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    Strategy and Program Management:

    • and deliver cyber security programs and initiatives to align with the organization's business objectives.
    • assess current cyber security capabilities and identify areas for improvement.
    • compliance with regulatory requirements such as NIS, GDPR, ISO27001, SMART, etc.

    Risk Assessment and Threat Analysis:

    • risk assessments and evaluate emerging threats to determine appropriate security controls.
    • knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, such as ISO 27000, NIST, SANS CSC, to assess technical designs and define risk mitigation strategies.

    Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • collaboratively with colleagues across all business units to build strong relationships and provide cyber security expertise.
    • complex technical risks into understandable terms for non-technical stakeholders.

    Compliance and Standards:

    • compliance with relevant cyber security regulations and standards.
    • expertise in regulatory compliance, specifically in the UK energy sector.

    Continuous Improvement and Staff Development:

    • ongoing staff development and learning.
    • initiatives that foster a culture of continuous improvement in cyber security.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • industry qualifications (e.g., GICSP, GCIP, CISSP, CISM).
    • knowledge of Network & Information Systems (NIS) regulation and its application in the UK energy sector.
    • understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, standards, and attack techniques.
    • experience in assessing technical designs and implementing appropriate security controls.
    • communication skills with the ability to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
