Description
The Therapies department is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and highly specialised physiotherapist with previous experience in acute areas of physiotherapy to lead our Acute Medicine team at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.You will utilise the knowledge and skills gained through previous experience to lead in the assessment and implementation of physiotherapy intervention within our 5 acute medical wards, including our cardiac care unit and acute respiratory ward.
If successful, you will be required to work flexibly across multiple areas and specialities including cardiology, endocrinology, respiratory, gastro and some oncology patients.
You will be supported with yearly appraisals and dedicated CPD time, and will be involved in providing weekly in-service training and regular supervision to more junior staff.
This is a full time position but we do have opportunity for flexible working and job shares. Our respiratory oncall service is currently run via an overtime system.
To take a major role in the advanced assessment and management of patients within this specialty who may have a complex presentation and / or a multi-pathology presentation, determining best delivery of care, in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT).
To work as an autonomous professional according to the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) Rules of Professional Conduct and Standards of Physiotherapy, and the Health Care Professions Council's (HCPC) regulations.
To undertake service reviews / audits in order to evaluate quality, efficiency and outcomes with a view to implementing change of practice, to ensure that a high standard of clinical practice and patient care is maintained.
To develop relationships with professional colleagues locally, regionally and nationally if required to develop clinical pathways relevant to the speciality.
Take a lead role in the supervision, teaching and appraisal of physiotherapists, non-qualified physiotherapy staff & students to graduate level, and multi-disciplinary team (MDT) staff in the physiotherapeutic care of patients within this specialty About us This is an exciting time for PAHT.
