    Children, Education and Justice Services

    Teacher
    Redhall Special School

    Salary: £32, - £48,
    Hours: 35 per week

    Redhall is a special school for pupils of primary school age whose needs are primarily associated with learning disability and Autism Spectrum Disorder. The maximum roll is 72 and pupils are in classes of up to 10.

    The school management team consists of a Headteacher, Depute Headteacher, 2 Principal Teachers and Business Manager. There is a large team of support staff of both Nursery Nurses and Pupil Support Assistants. A number of multi-agency staff work in the school supporting pupils and teachers which include Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists.

    The ideal candidate will have a positive energy, be enthusiastic, firm but fair, calm in a crisis and have a great sense of humour. In addition to this, the following skills are desirable:

  • Experience of using inclusive communication eg Signalong, PECS, AAC
  • Confident dealing with challenging behaviour eg CALM trained
  • Experience of leading a team

    • Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

    This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act . The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
