    SEN Teacher of Special Needs for The Grove - working with complex needs (semi-formal curriculum)

    Salary: MPS 1 £36,745 to 6 £47,666 + SEN 1 £2,539 (Inner London rate)

    We wish to appoint a teacher with an outstanding track record who is ambitious and ready for an exciting new challenge. The post will be working with youngsters with complex needs arising from their autism.

    Part of the SEARCH Education Trust, The Grove is an outstanding special school meeting the needs of autistic pupils aged 5 to 19 working within multiple pathways to include the engagement and semi-formal pathways through to subject specific GCSEs. We opened our doors to 42 pupils in 2018 and are now oversubscribed with 130 on roll. We offer a newly refurbished school designed around our pupils' needs which offers specialist facilities to support our curriculum.

    We offer a detailed, sequenced and carefully mapped out curriculum that reduces planning time for teachers. A bespoke assessment framework adapted by teachers reduces time spent on data. We offer a coaching model to professional development and work co-productively to develop pedagogical practice across the school. As an outstanding school we put staff development at the heart, believing our pupils are worthy of the best trained and skilled teams working with them.     The post holder will be responsible for leading a class of pupils, teaching the full curriculum based on the primary model and ensuring there are high quality and effective learning opportunities for all pupils. Class sizes are small and our experienced teams offer support with a collaborative approach to teaching. The post holder will share The Grove's commitment to SEND and have high aspirations for all pupils. Working closely and co-productively with our multi-disciplinary teams and successfully leading a class team of learning support assistants are key aspects of this role.

    The successful candidate will be required to:

    ● Have previous experience of working within an inclusive team;

    ● Deliver the school curriculum using a flexible approach to teaching;

    ● Have previous experience of teaching in an autism-specific environment or working with autistic pupils;

    ● Work closely with colleagues in a supportive manner to achieve the best outcomes for pupils;

    ● Have a passion for autism education and the inclusion agenda;

    ● Have experience of completing SEND assessments and adapting plans;

    ● Be a motivational teacher for all abilities ensuring learning is engaging and inclusive;

    ● Work within and contribute to the school community;

    ● Have a commitment to an integrated, therapeutic approach and ethos;

    ● Be very flexible and adapt quickly to change;

    ● Be positive, be solution focused and support others to do the same;

    ● Work within the culture and values of the school and promote these
