    Investigator – Cell Culture Patient Derived Organoid

    We are looking for a highly motivated scientist with experience in organoid development and oncology cellular biology to join the Oncology Translational Research team within GSK Oncology TA. The Oncology Translational Research team will partner with Oncology TA team members increase clinical translatability and to contribute to preclinical development programmes within GSK Oncology TA. The successful candidate will work as part of a team that, by exploiting patient-derived organoids, is developing and implementing cutting-edge cellular, genomic and molecular techniques with a multimodality analytic approach, plus machine learning models to improve cancer patient risk stratification as well as to predict future targeted and/or immuno-therapy susceptibilities.

    Key responsibilities

    • Setting up cell culture protocols to grow and expand patient-derived organoids upon reception.
    • Oversight and performing the cell culture/ expansion.
    • Performing patient-derived organoids quality control steps (cell density, proliferation rate and cytotoxicity evaluation).
    • Setting up and performing multimodality experiments according to the DBT lab project (cell plating, treatment, and organoids coculture with immune cells).
    • Collecting and reporting data to the lab head.
    • Executing and delivering of the project.
    • Solving technical issue operate as part of a cross-functional project team.
    • Collaborating/cooperating with KCL scientists within the GSK-KCL Translational Oncology Research Hub, an exclusive research collaboration between GSK and the Comprehensive Cancer Centre at KCL.

    Basic Qualifications:

    We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

    • BSc in Cell Biology/Oncology or related
    • A multidisciplinary mix of training/expertise in Oncology and Cancer cell biology.
    • Significant experience in cell culture techniques (primary samples/ patient-derived organoids), cytotoxicity analysis.
    • Cellular and molecular Biology skills: cell isolation from human biopsies/samples; culture of normal and tumor cells from primary samples or immortalized cell lines; cell isolation from buffy coats; organoid establishment from fresh or frozen tissue; 3D culture in Matrigel or scaffolds (spheroids and organoids)
    • Ability to communicate with team members from different backgrounds by training/discipline, as well as senior members of the GSK stakeholders/research partner units
    • Ability to deliver high quality, consistent results in a timely fashion with a positive can-do and result oriented attitude

    Preferred Qualifications

    If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

    • MSc or PhD in Cell Biology/Oncology or related
    • Background of immunology
    • Experience in flow cytometry
    • A track record of scientific Publication
    • Experience in collaboration with biopharma
