    An exciting opportunity has arisen at Browne Jacobson to join our expanding Education Team through the recruitment of an experienced Data Protection Solicitor.

The depth and breadth of our offering coupled with a national office network continues to be a winning combination and the firm now boasts a national client base of over 1,000 education sector organisations including maintained and independent schools, boarding schools, academies and their sponsors, further education colleges, local authorities, diocesan boards of education, regulatory bodies, independent learning providers, educational charities and professional associations. The team is ranked in Band One nationally for Education by both Chambers and Legal 500 and prides itself on its friendly, supportive and dynamic culture.

    We are keen to speak with candidates with experience of acting on both non-contentious and contentious data protection matters in education, and both strategic and operational issues in the education sector. This role would ideally suit someone at Senior Associate level with excellent technical expertise, good client-facing skills and the ability to work well as part of a team. You will primarily support the firm's education team in advising clients on the full range of data protection law matters relating to state funded and independent schools.

    This is a genuine opportunity to join a highly successful and expanding National Education Team that will support your career development. While receiving appropriate training and development opportunities working alongside our partners, the senior associate will be expected to make the most of the autonomy this role offers, essentially making it their own. Business development and profile-raising activity is expected as a senior member of the education team.

    To be successful in this role, you'll need to be up-to-date with legal developments and government policy within the education sector, have excellent legal drafting skills, and be able to provide clear, concise, and commercially relevant advice. You'll be enthusiastic, ambitious, results-oriented, and able to consistently deliver high-quality work with supervision appropriate to the level of the role.
