    Job summary

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join the Enfield CAMHS, - Generic and Neurodevelopmental (NDS) Team. We are recruiting for 1 permanent and a 1 year fixed term role.

    The Generic/NDS Team provides a comprehensive range of assessment and therapeutic interventions. The team further, provides consultation to professionals, as well as assessment and treatment for Neurodevelopmental conditions.

    The post holder will be joining a supportive multi-disciplinary team, using formulation and drawing on different clinical approaches in line with theTHRIVEFramework.

    Main duties of the job

    The post holder will provide assessments and deliver interventions for a broad range of mental health conditions meeting specialist CAMHS criteria, including around management of risk and safeguarding. The role is mainly clinic-based and will focus on the delivery of timely, high quality interventions. This position provides opportunities to work with and develop links with health and social care as part of the THRIVE Framework to delivery of care for young people. The role will appeal to a skilled CAMHS practitioners with an appropriate registration who enjoys specialist work in a dynamic CAMHS service.

    Regular clinical supervision will be provided, exploring development opportunities for the post holder. We will support individuals to develop specialist skills and pursue specific areas of interest or service development projects where appropriate. We also hold regular CPD and service development days across the whole service.

    Job responsibilities

    The post holder will be a psychological therapist working with child & families. They will provide both direct and indirect care working with colleagues within the multidisciplinary team. They will provide consultation with other clinicians, offering assessments and interventions where indicated. They will have enhanced knowledge / expertise of treatment for children and adolescents with mental illness / disorders.

    Qualifications/ Registrations

    Essential

  • Clinical or Counselling Psychology (eligible for chartered status)
  • Current professional registration with Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Desirable

  • Training in one of the main therapeutic modalities.
  • Relevant training on safeguarding and child protection.
  • Skills/ Abilities

    Essential

  • Evidence of well-developed clinical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across organisational boundaries.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven qualities in sustaining the mental, emotional and physical demands of specialised therapeutic work with disturbed and distressed adolescents and their families/care networks.
  • Capacity to deal with working conditions that may occasionally involve verbal abuse and frequent exposure to highly emotive material such as child abuse and family breakdown.
  • Ability to manage the multiple demands complex clinical environment
  • Awareness of current national guidelines and policies in the field of CAMHS.
  • Knowledge of CYP-IAPT and rationale for ROMs
  • Knowledge of legislation including the Mental Health Act 1983 in relation to children and adolescents including safeguarding children and young people, child protection procedures and policies.
  • Good computer skills and knowledge of patient management systems.
  • Accurate record keeping.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.

  • Knowledge of development in inter- agency partnership.
  • Specific knowledge of current issues for Adolescent mental health.

  • Previous experience of working with young people in a mental health setting.
  • Experience of clinical and risk assessment and treatment of young people and adolescents across the full range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings.
  • Experience of case load management. Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team. Evidence of well-developed clinical skills.
  • Working knowledge and competence in at least one model of therapeutic work ( Systemic, CBT, SFT, Psychodynamic).
  • Ability to work effectively across organisational boundaries.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven qualities in sustaining the mental, emotional and physical demands of specialised therapeutic work with disturbed and distressed adolescents and their families/care networks.

  • Understanding of NICE Guidelines for mental health disorders

  • Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
  • Experience of supervision of junior staff with independent caseloads.
  • Experience of working within a multicultural framework.
