This is a fixed term/ secondment post for 12 months to cover maternity leave.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join our antimicrobial pharmacy team, helping to support our work programme to improve antibiotic prescribing within Swansea Bay. We are looking for a team-orientated and motivated individual who shares our enthusiasm for improving patient care both now and in the future through helping to combat the growing threat of antibiotic resistance.
Main duties of the job
You will be need to be an experienced pharmacy technician, with a relevant pharmaceutical qualification and registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). You will also need to be enthusiastic, self-motivated and well organised.
The role will be varied and will help you develop a specialist knowledge around antimicrobial prescribing. With the support of the team, you will help deliver antibiotic- focused quality improvement projects across a number of settings including GP practices and hospital wards. Your duties will include undertaking clinical audits, collecting / processing data and providing training sessions to various health care professionals nurses, pharmacy technicians. Within your new role you will act as the antimicrobial lead for pharmacy technicians and help us engage the pharmacy technician work-force to support this important work.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Job descriptionJob responsibilities
You will be joining a small but friendly team, consisting of a consultant antimicrobial pharmacist, a project support officer and two antimicrobial pharmacists. Your main base will be within the medicines management office located in the grounds of Neath Port Talbot hospital but you will be required to visit hospital sites and GP practices as needed. There will be many opportunities to develop and expand the skills you will bring with you and full training will be provided.
