About The Role:

PETA are proud to be working with Safran Helicopter Engines UK Ltd to recruit and train a Production Manufacturing Apprentice.

This opportunity is a full-time role based at their site in Fareham.


Training to be provided:

***As a Production Manufacturing Apprentice, you will be studying a Level 3 Machining Technician Apprenticeship. Throughout your Apprenticeship with Safran, you will be supported by your company mentor and your PETA Learning and Development Coach.


You will attend PETA's Havant training centre for off-the-job training, one day per week for 39 months of the apprenticeship.

Overall duration 45 months.


The job role is to start ASAP and training to start in April. Not suitable for school leavers 2024.

About the role:


Joining the team as a Production Manufacturing Apprentice, your role will be focused on learning a range of machining processes such as milling, turning and grinding within a workshop environment.

You will become competent in health & safety at work, carrying out continuous improvement activities and the inspection process within this apprenticeship.


Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out all bench processes to have a full understanding of metal removal, deburring and fettling methods
  • Setting up and operate manual/ CNC machine tools across turning, milling and grinding
  • Using a range of inspection methods and equipment to ensure product conformity
  • Working closely with the Quality department to achieve an understanding of all regulations

Apprenticeship Progression:

Safran have a great track record for supporting apprentices in their company.

Over time, the role will develop to offer challenging new responsibilities to stretch your capabilities and understanding. Upon completion of your apprenticeship programme, there is the potential to be offered a full-time position.


Our ideal Production Manufacturing Apprentice:

***An apprenticeship is all about learning new knowledge, skills and behaviours, therefore, to be considered for this role of a Production Manufacturing Apprentice, you must be able to demonstrate a genuine interest in engineering and a willingness to learn.


You will also require:

  • GCSE Maths and English grade C/4 or above / or equivalent
  • Enthusiasm to problem solve and ask questions
  • Methodical thinking
  • Selfmotivation and initiative
  • The ability to be a teamplayer
  • Good working knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Word

Working week details:

Core hours are 9am-3pm Monday - Thursday. And 9am-12pm on a Friday.


Shift Pattern 1:
7.5 hours Monday - Thursday and 7 hours on a Friday.


Shift Pattern 2:
8 hours Monday - Thursday and 5 hours on a Friday.


Employees can start at between 6:30am - 9am as long as they complete their expected hours and work between the core hours.
