Al-Hurraya is seeking to recruit 1, Harm Reduction Worker

  • The post holder will provide harm reduction advice for a range of substances, needle exchange and associated services both from the main base in the city centre and on outreach.
  • You will have experience of working within harm reduction services and recognise the diversity within harm reduction and in different communities.
  • Excellent communication skills are needed for this role in addition to innovative thinking and a passion for harm reduction.

Clinical Assessment:
Brief assessment of physical presentation (withdrawal, intoxication, physical health, mental health). Interpretation of a range of objective measures (Breathalyser, screening tools). Risk management of situations based on the results of the assessment in line with local clinical governance procedures

Case load:
To plan, implement and review individual client care plans. To manage a small caseload with varying levels of need. To ensure all local and national monitoring requirements for individual clients is completed in line with NTA Guidance (National Treatment Agency)

Therapeutic interventions:
To deliver a range of evidence based therapeutic interventions both 1:1 and group to facilitate client recovery. To utilise appropriate therapeutic toolkits to enable the service user to achieve their stated goals.

Multi-Disciplinary Working:
Participate in the case management of service users. This includes report writing, representation and liaison with internal and external case management forums.


For example:
MAPPA, High Volume Service user forum, safeguarding meetings etc.

Record Keeping:

Keep accurate written records of all aspects of client care in line with Framework's record keeping policy and NMC guidance.

This includes patient notes, care plans, risk assessments external and internal communications and report writing.

Professional Development:
Develop and improve professional practice as required by the Drug Alcohol National Occupational Standards (DANOS).

Engage in case load, management and clinical supervision, external and internal audits as well as keep up to date with all training requirements mandatory to Last Orders and Framework.


  • Navigate local care pathways to ensure that service user needs outside that of alcohol treatment are effectively addressed. This can include drug, mental and physical health, criminal justice and wrap around service pathways.
  • Support senior members of staff in the delivery of comprehensive assessment, care planning and clinical treatment in line with local clinical governance procedures

Salary:
£22,549.00-£24,882.00 per year
