Our Horse Welfare team provides support for Blue Cross horses and ponies in their loan homes.

With over 700 horses and ponies all over the country, we rely on the help and support of our volunteers to assist us with home visits.

Are you experienced with horses and would like an opportunity tohelp one of the country's leading pet charities? Blue Cross is looking for knowledgeable people with great communication skills tohelp us by carrying out home visits to horses in their loan homesand potential new homes in the local area.

Our Horse Welfare team provides support for Blue Cross horses and ponies in their loan homes.

With over 700 horses and ponies all over the country, we rely on the help and support of our volunteers to assist us with home visits.

Horse Welfare Team Member Volunteer manager

Ensuring that the highest welfare standards are being met for the horses and ponies on our loan home schemes is paramount to us.

Using your equine knowledge and skills you will be helping to maintain relationships between Blue Cross and the loan homes.

We would love you to join us and help us help more pets in need.
Carrying out routine home visits or 'virtual visits' for horses on loan from the Blue Cross and visits for potential new borrowers of Blue Cross horses and ponies
Providing advice to borrowers on a range of horse care issues
Reporting back to the Horse Welfare Coordinator on the outcome of home visits by phone or e-mail
Opportunity to become a volunteer coordinator, overseeing the volunteers responsible for these home/virtual visits and ensuring visits are allocated and carried out when due Updating horse files and records using in-house databases
Equine Industry experience is essential; Experience working with and caring for a wide range of horses is essential for this role
A good knowledge of horse care issues
A willingness to follow Blue Cross policy
A full current driving licence and vehicle
Access to a phone, computer and scanner
Familiar with using word, excel and outlook
All travel costs will be covered
You'll be helping horses to have happy, healthy lives
