Job overview

We are inviting applications to the position of Rotational Band 6 Respiratory Physiotherapist, within Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the physiotherapy team within a CQC rated 'outstanding' NHS specialist Trust. We offernine-month rotations in medical, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary rehabilitation and surgery including critical care.

Main duties of the job

The role is ideally suited to an individual with an interest in cardiovascular and respiratory therapy and experience in this field is preferred. A proven ability to provide supervision and participation in the development of services would beneficial. Experienced band 5's with a desire to progress into a band 6 role are welcome to apply and will be fully supported once in post. We offer internal and external training opportunities and close working with highly skilled senior therapists.

The department has a growing co-hort of support workers and band 5 therapists, we regularly host students across all therapy teams and have a strong working partnership with our exercise physiology colleagues and multi-disciplinary colleagues across the trust. We are a fun and welcoming team, holding monthly cake days, regular social events and trust driven wellbeing initiatives, all of which will help you to settle into the team quickly and build working relationships.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The role is full time Monday – Friday 8am – 4pm. The successful candidate will be required to take part in the emergency respiratory on call rota providing out of hours (weekend, late and on call) care to respiratory patients across the Trust. Competency based training for this will be provided.

Person specification Qualifications

• Diploma/Degree/MSc in Physiotherapy
• Member of relevant clinical interest group

Knowledge

• Knowledge of the MDT and their role in patient care
• Experience of respiratory physiotherapy
• Good clinical reasoning skills based on evidence
• Experience of supervising staff
• Good IM & T Skills

Skill

• Ability to empathise and reassure
• Ability to work as part of an MDT
• Evidence of presentation and teaching skills
• Evidence of presenting to a mixed audience

We expect all new starters in clinical, patient facing posts (bands 1-4) to complete all 15 standards of the Care Certificate, within their first 6 months with the Trust.
